Lastly, the real-time Tom Hardy thriller Locke, which will be stopping by Sundance, has been set for a release a few weeks after. Directed by Steven Knight (Eastern Promises), it will open on April 25th in limited release, the same weekend Earth to Echo, The Other Woman, The Quiet Ones, and Walk of Shame open wide.
Locke was screened at the Mumbai Film Festival and this reviewer made a point about the confidence it takes to pull off a role like Ivan Locke.
Locke – Tom Hardy. Driving a car. One night in London. Travelling from one end of town to another. All the time on phone. The premise sounds like a thriller but it is a superlatively shot human drama about a man trying to face his demons. Doesn’t get repetitive despite being a single ‘setup’ film. Wish we could see a hindi film like this but which actor is confident and daring enough to pull off something like this?
